The East West Link is an 18 kilometre cross-city road connection extending across Melbourne from the Eastern Freeway to the Western Ring Road.
The Victorian Government has committed to building the first stage of the East West Link between the Eastern Freeway and CityLink, with planning underway in 2013.
The formal planning study is also considering a connection from CityLink to the Port of Melbourne area. A proposed route connecting the Port area to the Western Ring Road has been developed.Read more about the project
The East West Link Comprehensive Impact Statement (CIS) has been prepared and was on display for public comment in late 2013.
Submissions are now being considered by the independent Assessment Committee, which has been appointed by the Minister for Planning to assess the CIS.
The Assessment Committee conducted a public hearing from Monday 3 March to Tuesday 15 April 2014 and will provide recommendations to the Minister for Planning in the first half of 2014.
